Isostatic graphite

Isostatic graphite supply

Isostatic graphite, also called synthetic isotropic graphite, is made from ultra-fine graphitized coke grains that are molded isostatically, which means that the raw material mixture is compacted into rectangular or round blocks by a cold isostatic press.

Isostatic graphite is distinguished from other graphite types by its homogeneous structure, its high purity, and its excellent electrical, mechanical, and thermal properties. It is used in many applications where the properties of other types of graphite are not suitable.

Properties of isostatic graphite

Considered the best quality of fine-grained graphite, isostatic graphite has many properties:

  • Fine grain
  • Homogeneous structure
  • High density
  • Excellent thermal conductivity
  • High thermal shock resistance
  • High mechanical strength
  • Good electrical conductivity
  • Isotropic properties
  • High resistance to oxidation and corrosion
  • Low ash contents

Where is isostatic graphite used?

Due to its excellent properties and the ongoing research into improving quality, molded graphite is widely used in a variety of industries:

  • Solar energy
  • EDM
  • Semiconductors
  • Aerospace
  • As well as all shaped parts
